Some rooms take a while to warm up. This one didn’t. Katelyn and Christopher got married at The Park Savoy in Florham Park on August 1st, and by the time the doors opened for their grand entrance, the room was already on its feet. That’s what good New Jersey wedding entertainment is supposed to do. It isn’t about the gear stacked in the corner. It’s about a team that reads the room and lands the moments the couple spent a year planning.
When a couple writes “high energy” on the planner form, that’s a promise somebody has to keep. Mike Schaffer kept it. He worked the mic all night, kept the timeline moving without announcing every five minutes, and handed the room back to Joey every time the music was doing the job better than a voice would.
Getting married at The Park Savoy in Florham Park
The Park Savoy sits in Florham Park, in the middle of Morris County, and it’s one of those North Jersey venues that does a lot of the work for you. Katelyn and Christopher kept everything on site. The ceremony was indoors in a separate room from the reception, with prelude music starting at 6:30 and Francesco Guagliardi officiating. Katelyn came down the aisle to a violin cover of “Your Song” by Elton John. They walked back out to “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede, cued to start at 33 seconds so it hit exactly where they wanted it. That’s a small thing. Small things are most of the job.
The four songs that carried the night
Every wedding comes down to four songs. The entrance, the first dance, and the two parent dances. Everything after that is the party, and the party is easy once those four land.
The grand entrance song: “Enter Sandman,” the KAAZE version. The whole wedding party came in first, bridesmaids and groomsmen to “Levels” by Avicii, with both sets of parents walking in ahead of them. Katelyn’s parents to “Uptown Funk,” Christopher’s parents to “Shout.” Then Mike announced Mr. and Mrs. Morano, the Metallica riff came in through a big-room remix, and the pyro went up on cue. The first dance song: “Annie’s Song” by John Denver. It’s a short song, and Katelyn and Christopher told us on the planner that they wanted the entire thing, no fade. So we played the entire thing, on the clouds, in a quiet room. Start to finish, with nobody talking over it. That’s how a first dance should feel.
The father-daughter dance: “Summer Wind” by Frank Sinatra. Katelyn danced with her dad, Joseph. Sinatra is never the wrong call in a North Jersey ballroom, and this one landed the way it always does when the song is genuinely theirs and not something picked off a list. The mother-son dance: “You’ll Be in My Heart” by Phil Collins. Christopher danced with his mom, Maria. That song does something to a room full of parents, and this room was no exception. It’s one we come back to often when couples ask for mother-son song ideas.
None of those four are on anybody’s top-ten list. Metallica, John Denver, Sinatra, and Phil Collins in the same night. That’s the point. The songs meant something to them, so they meant something to the room.
What Katelyn and Christopher booked
They started with the Mystical Stellar Wedding Package and added five things on top of it. None of the five was decoration. Each one had a job on the timeline.
Three separate sound systems in three separate rooms is the part nobody sees and everybody notices when it’s missing. The pyro is the part everybody sees. We run indoor-safe pyrotechnics, which is why a ballroom in Florham Park can have a moment that usually only happens outside.
The details that made it run
Cocktail hour was DJ-driven, an hour and fifteen minutes of jazz, Sinatra and Bublé, loungey beats, and yacht rock, which is a genuinely good cocktail blend and one more couples should steal. After dinner there was a cake cutting, announced but with no song behind it, and toasts from Jacqueline and Matthew on top of Joseph’s. No bouquet toss, no garter, no anniversary dance. They cut the filler and kept the floor open, and the floor stayed full.
