The star-studded premiere of Spike’s new show Lip Sync Battle on SpikeTV featured two epic episode performances from some of the most well-known celebrities.
T his TV originated from the popular segment on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show where Fallon challenges his guests to lip sync and the guests take the challenge completely serious . The show spinoff is hosted by LL Cool J and has commentator Chrissy Teigen.
The show’s premise: Celebs come and fake-sing their hearts out in the hopes of winning bragging rights and the Lip Sync Battle belt which looks similar to a wrestling belt. Each half-hour episode consists of a two-part competition, first part is basic lip syncing, where part two, the celebrities don costumes and get into complete character to perform song number 2!
The first episode featured Dwayne “ The Rock” Johnson VS Jimmy Fallon , who lip synced to Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off and for their first songs. Their second songs were Madonna’s Like a Prayer and Bee Gee’s Stayin’ Alive. Johnson wore the all white disco tux for his performance and Fallon couldn’t leave the stage without wearing the robe and have his choir.
The second episode featured John Legend VS Common who lip synced to I Want You Back by The Jackson Five, while John Legend performed Slow Motion by Juvenile for the first round. To then going alll out to Lionel Richie’s All Night Long , while Legend performed as MC Hammer to the hit U Can’t Touch This.
